## Review the mapping before replacing your working batch

FactoryCards reads UTF-8 CSV locally. Preview the imported data and map the relevant columns to card fields, including the encoded value. Check identifiers and any copies column carefully. A spreadsheet may have removed leading zeroes before export; the app cannot reconstruct lost data.

## How to use FactoryCards

1. **Prepare and select the CSV.** Export the source data as UTF-8 CSV. Keep identifiers as text in the source. The importer accepts up to 2 MiB, 1,000 records and 64 columns.
2. **Map and review.** Check blank rows, duplicates and exclusions explicitly. Confirm the preview before replacing the working batch. Copies can be 1–100 for each record; total PDF output is limited to 100 pages.
3. **Generate the reviewed batch.** Resolve all blocking issues, inspect the generated PDF and download it. Save the project JSON separately to keep an editable copy. For a scanner check, export up to 64 selected expected values.

## Source rows and printed pages are different counts

A batch of 30 records with two copies each produces 60 card pages. A small CSV can therefore reach the 100-page PDF limit if copy counts are high. Review the total before generation and split larger work into deliberate batches.

## Questions

### Can I upload an Excel workbook?

The importer accepts CSV, not XLSX. Export a UTF-8 CSV from the spreadsheet first and check that identifier text has survived.

### Does importing save data to an account?

No. Importing reads the file in your browser. Download a project if you want to retain editable work after closing or refreshing the page.

### Will it generate every type of barcode label?

No. This release produces fixed bin/rack cards in Code 128 or QR. It is not a general-purpose mail-merge designer, shipping-label tool or product-compliance system.

## Current scope

Create location cards, keep display text separate from the encoded value, choose Code 128 or QR, and review the exact PDF before downloading. Import UTF-8 CSV, choose copies, save a portable project and export a sample of expected scan values for ScannerBench.

The current alpha supports only bin/rack cards on 100 × 50 mm stock, one card per PDF page, at 203 or 300 DPI. It is not an inventory system, replenishment workflow or general label designer. A4/Letter sheets and other card types are not implemented. Physical printer/scanner qualification remains outstanding.

## Privacy

Entered records, imported CSV and projects are processed locally in browser memory. No accounts, uploads, analytics or automatic persistent storage are used. Download a project to keep editable work; reloading loses unsaved changes. Hosting may log ordinary asset requests. The app loads its own renderer assets; it is not an installed offline app.
